A disturbing new trend is rising in the world of AI. Everyone from celebrities to high school students is beginning to experience the horrors of illicit AI deepfakes.

The practice of using publicly available images and even video footage of victims to generate fake pornographic material is something the law is still trying to catch up with. And it's not just big-name celebrities like Taylor Swift who are being victimized by this technology.

In California, one school district has had to announce an investigation into the creation and dissemination of AI-generated illicit photos of students.

Internet Attorney Travis Crabtree told KTRH that fighting this is a complicated issue. He said, "Do we play whack-a-mole and go after the individuals who are doing this? Or do we try to hold the AI companies and services that allow people to transmit these images accountable?"

Crabtree says Texas is leading the way on this issue, with a law that bans using AI to generate non-consensual pornography. That law, of course, protects people of all ages.
