Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar Indicted By Biden's DOJ

Even with our weaponized, two-tiered justice system in the U.S., every once in awhile, even Democrats occasionally face charges.

Today, Joe Biden's DOJ indicted Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar on conspiracy and bribery charges, after allegedly taking nearly $600,000 from a Azerbaijani company & a Mexican bank.

Federal law enforcement raided Cuellar's Laredo house and office in 2022 as part of an investigation into a group of U.S. businessmen and their ties to the country of Azerbaijan.

The representative and his office agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Cuellar previously served as a co-chair of the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus.

In a statement earlier today, Cuellar said: “I want to be clear that both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations. Everything I have done in Congress has been to serve the people of South Texas.”

Cuellar also said in his statement that actions he took in Congress were “in the interest of the American people” and vowed to continue his bid for reelection in November.

He suggested his wife, Imelda, was involved.

“On top of being an amazing wife and mother, she’s an accomplished businesswoman with two degrees. She spent her career working with banking, tax, and consulting,” Cuellar said. “The allegation that she is anything but qualified and hard working is both wrong and offensive.”

The Justice Department declined to comment.
